New Hampshire's state primary is Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The general election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Maxwell Saal is running in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. Polls close at 7 p.m. in most of New Hampshire; the cities can stay open until 8. Most open at 8 a.m., some at 7, a few at 11. Your town's hours and polling place are on the state voter portal.

Ask for the Democratic ballot. Under United States Senator, look for Maxwell Saal. Then tell three people.

Q: Can't make it Tuesday?

Absentee requests are due to your town clerk by 5 p.m. Monday, September 7. That's Labor Day, and most clerk offices are closed, so call before you drive. Already have a ballot? It must be in the clerk's hands by 5 p.m. Tuesday. Walk it in. Don't mail it. Otherwise, vote in person Tuesday: find your polling place and hours.

Undeclared? You're in.

Undeclared is the biggest voting bloc in New Hampshire, and every undeclared voter can vote in this primary. Ask for a Democratic ballot at your polling place. Want to stay undeclared? Fill out the card with the Supervisors of the Checklist before you leave, and you walk out exactly as independent as you walked in.

Not registered? Register at the polls.

New Hampshire has same-day registration. Bring proof of who you are, your age, your citizenship (a passport or birth certificate is the sure bet), and proof you live in town, and you can register and vote in one trip. Missing the citizenship document? You can sign a qualified voter affidavit at the table and still register and vote. Ask for it by name.

Already registered with a party?

Registered Democrats vote like always. If you're registered with another party, the deadline to switch for this primary was June 2, 2026. If you missed it, I'll see you at the general election on November 3.
